When Stephen McKears noticed his tools being moved around, he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. He had absolutely no explanation… He thought he was going crazy.
“One day I emptied the tub out and spread the contents on the side – and the next day they were all back in again. I thought I was going mad,” he says.
He knew that he needed to get to the bottom of this. The kids were even telling him it was a ghost… This was pretty much the opening scene for a paranormal film, after all.
He and a friend set up a camera at night to truly see what was going on. If they really were moving on their own, he’d have a pretty weird problem…
Turns out, it was a mouse.

Every single night for a month straight they would find nuts and bolts put away in a metal tin. Apparently, this little mouse took it upon himself to put them where he thought they belonged.
“I’ve been calling him Brexit Mouse because he’s been stockpiling for Brexit. The heaviest thing was the plastic attachment at the end of a hose pipe – and the chain of an electric drill.”
McKears says the mouse is still doing it every night, but now it’s a little less scary since he knows its definitely not a ghost.
