Deuce McAllister
Deuce McAllister played for the New Orleans Saints for 8 years from 2001 to 2008, winning the Super Bowl in his final year. This, after an equally successful stay in the University of Mississippi where he’d break records and win two Pro Bowls in 2002 and 2003. He also earned over $70 million throughout his career.
By all accounts, Deuce McAllister was a winner. But, just 3 years after his retirement, he filed for bankruptcy.
For all the athletic talent that he had, he lacked a lot in the financial management department, and despite being nearly broke at the time, he chose to invest much of what remained of his money in a Nissan dealership in Jackson, Mississippi. The investment didn’t pay off, and Nissan sued McAllister for $1.5 million in 2009 after he reportedly owned the car company more than $6 million.
