The Dumbest Purchases Made By Athletes

Torii Hunter

Because 70 percent of the planet is covered in water and people love buying furniture, it sure seems like a good idea to buy an inflatable furniture raft, which is basically a device designed to rest under couches in flood-prone region. Torii Hunter apparently thought so too, as he invested $70,000 immediately as soon as a inventor pitched the idea to him.

To this day, an operable furniture raft has yet to reach the market.

Unlike the others on this list, however, Torii Hunter didn’t really lose much, and just soon after his failed investment, he signed a lucrative deal with the Los Angeles Angels.

Although he’s probably not going to go bankrupt anytime soon, a dumb purchase is still a dumb purchase, which is why he takes a spot on this list.
