Flight Around The Statue of Liberty
In 1909, Wilbur Wright was invited to New York City by the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, which was being held to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of the Hudson River and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton's invention of the steamboat.
Wright was asked to demonstrate his flying skills at the event, and he agreed to fly around the Statue of Liberty as part of the celebrations.
