Pickles on Pizza: It’s a Thing

Average pizza shops offer lots of toppings—from pepperoni and sausage to the controversial pineapple, generally speaking, there’s plenty to choose from.

But there’s another topping that is making its rounds and landing atop pizzas around the world, and that topping is: pickles.

Pickles already make amazing toppings on burgers and sandwiches, even hotdogs enjoy a relish accompaniment, but pizza was getting no pickle love, and it’s a real shame.

The flavors work because they are complementary. Pickles offer the salty, briny flavor that people already put atop their pies like banana peppers, olives, and sardines. Just add some crumbled ground-beef and pickles and you’ve got yourself a cheeseburger pizza.
