Now topping the USDA’s list of most produced cheese are Italian-style cheeses. Their report said that 5.3 billion pounds of Italian cheeses were produced in the U.S. within the last year, as compared with the 5.1 billion pounds of American-style that had been produced.
Topping the Italian cheese sector was, obviously, mozzarella, followed by ricotta, provolone, and parmesan.
