You’ll Never Believe These Mind-Blowing Secrets from Behind the Scenes of Law & Order: SVU

The Episodes Are Intentionally Titled in a Particular Way

For the first eighteen seasons of Law & Order: SVU, episode titles followed a specific pattern. Season 1 was a tad rocky, but they figured out a rhythm toward the end: all titles were just one word. This continued until the Season 12 finale when Chris Meloni, B.D. Wong, and Tamara Tunie all departed from the show. From Season 12 to Season 17, the episodes were all two words long, each containing the same number of letters as the season. E.g., Season 13 began with “Scorched Earth” (13 letters) and Season 15 with “Surrender Benson” (fifteen letters). By Season 18, it seems like the showrunners grew tired of this format, and all rules went out the window.
