Hugely inspired by Charlie Christian, her natural talent and savvy improv skills were enough to earn her a headlining spot in 1945 with Dizzy Gillespie. She and her husband, trumpeter Ralph Scaffidi taught music and played local shows in LA. Her notable instrument is a Gibson ES-150.
