Attending the University of Glasglow's School of Law, Gerard Butler was the president of the college's law society. He has since stated that he "kind of blagged [his] way into" the position. He took a year off from school after his father's death and lived in Venice, California. He returned to school to finish up, but later returned to the West Coast for acting.
