The Who were never the same after drummer Keith Moon died. He has been named the second-greatest drummer in history by a Rolling Stone poll. He joined The Who before they released their first single, and his telltale drumming style was full of fills and tom-tom emphasis. He was one of the first rock drummers to use double bass drums as well. In 1978, he overdosed on Heminevrin, a drug he'd been taking to cope with alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
