Queen Noor of Jordan

A native to Washington DC and born Lisa Najeeb Halaby, she became Queen of Jordan in 1978 when she married then-King Hussein bin Taal. Though the country considered her an outsider at first, she was accepted after the citizens saw her charitable she was as Queen consort. She held the position until 1999.
