The Shining

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is cinema gold. Even today, it's still widely popular. The very end twist that shows Jack Torrance in a photo at the Overlook Hotel from the 1920s has been widely debated for years. Kubrick likes to keep people guessing, so it most likely means that the photo was something he threw in there for some intrigue without actually giving it meaning.

The More You Know

  • The first public movie screening was held in 1895 in Paris.
  • The filming of 'The Godfather' was disrupted by an actual Mafia member, Joe Colombo. Producer Al Ruddy met with him and reviewed the script, striking the word "Mafia" completely from the movie. Colombo and his pals also managed to elbow their way into casting and ended up as extras in the film.
  • Novelist and screenwriter Nick Hornby is brother-in-law to novelist and screenwriter Robert Harris.
