66. Charlie Gardiner
One of the first NHL superstars, Gardiner was a goalie for the Blackhawksâand the last goalie ever to serve as captain on a Stanley Cup-winning team. Gardiner won two Vezina Trophies and was picked as all-NHL first team three times before leaving the rink in agony after the Blackhawks’ Cup victory in 1934. Unfortunately, Gardiner had an infected tooth that led to health complications, costing him his life.
