The Greatest Drummers of All Time

Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt)

This dude’s music is super weird. His drumming style is so powerful and primal, taking influence from free jazz and industrial music. Brian Chippendale rigs a microphone mask to his face and distorts his vocals to sound almost like a cross between a 1930s’ commercial narrator and the devil himself. He has set the platform for “weird” 21st-century drummers like Zach Hill (Death Grips, hella) and Greg Saunier (Deerhoof) to be as absolutely confusing and fast as possible.
