Study Shows McDonald’s French Fries Could Cure Hair Loss

There are a lot of fast food options out there and of the most common are the French fries. And one of the most beloved versions of these fries is the ones from one of the biggest fast food chains, McDonald’s. There are no illusions about the health benefits of the French fries and most consider them to be junk food. But a recent study has shown that these fries have one unique health benefit: hair loss prevention.

According to a recent study by scientists at the Yokohama National University in Japan, one of the ingredients used in McDonald’s famous fries could actually cure baldness. The study was published in the Biomaterials Journal and it found that the ingredient dimethylpolysiloxane could help improve the regrowth of hair. It was tested on hairless mice, where hair did regrow after the ingredient was used in hair growth therapy.

The ingredient dimethylpolysiloxane is an anti-foaming agent made of silicone added to the oil used to cook the fries of the fast food chain. While there was some success testing with mice, there are still some studies to see if it could translate to be successful with humans. Although the researchers at the University find this study promising and could potentially help in hair regrowth.

The study also concluded that dimethylpolysiloxane by itself won’t actually cure hair loss. The ingredient wasn’t used to stimulate hair regrowth but to create vessels where hair follicle germs (or bio-engineered follicles) could grow. So this means that you shouldn’t start ordering an extra order of fries to go with your burger the next time you go to McDonalds.
