Spring Cleaning Hacks You'll Wish You'd Found Out Years Ago

Clean Your Toilet With Cola

Corrosive properties in most sodas can easily clean away any hard-to-reach stains in your toilet. Sugars and carbonation found in an average can of soda eat up all the solids that stick to the sides of porcelain. The More You Know

  • Use your vacuum cleaner to find tiny items you've lost, such as earrings. Just cover the end of a vacuum cleaner with a stocking or pantyhose, and start your search.
  • In a pinch for labels? Just reach for the rubber bands. Wrap ’em around your mason jars and you’ll never mistake salt for sugar again.
  • Stow bulky items overhead by cementing together a simple rack from 2" PVC pipes and fittings. Bolt the straight pipe to the ceiling joists to support heavy loads, and screw the angled pieces from the 'wye' connectors into the cross brace to stabilize the whole rack.
  • A wet-dry vacuum slurps clogs out of plugged drains. Even plumbers use this trick sometimes. If you need to increase suction, seal around the nozzle with a wet rag.
