The Padres ‘Rickrolled’ an Entire Stadium of Red Sox Fans

By 4 weeks ago

No one can resist the comforting sounds of “Sweet Caroline”, so Boston Red Sox fans gleefully joined in the singing when the song came on their game against the San Diego Padres. Fenway Park was united with the sounds of Neil Diamond, until all of a sudden, a familiar song cut through the voices singing “So good! So good! So good!”

It was Rick Astley.

“Never Gonna Give You Up” is a popular song to be played at random times, in a time-honored practical joke known as “rickrolling”. It’s especially common to appear during a video clip or a song like this one. Don’t get too comfortable, you never know when Rick Astley might pop up!

The Padres’ method might have worked, as they won the game 3-1, thus avoiding the series sweep. The next game will be against the Dodgers in San Diego. If you start to hear a fan-favorite, be wary, you never know what song might play next…
