Megan Rapinoe has made it very clear that she does not want to go to the White House. This reluctance is due to Donald Trump’s beliefs and values during his tenure as President. So, since she and teammate Alex Morgan wouldn’t go to the White House, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel decided to bring the White House to them.
Kimmel greeted the World Cup-winning athletes with 5,000 chicken nuggets, just like the President would have wanted. They also discussed the fourth win for the team and the wage gap in women’s sports, which has been a central issue the team has confronted.
The President famously welcomed the Clemson University football team with a full fast-food feast, describing it as “great American food.” He did it again with the North Dakota State Bison football team as well, so clearly it was becoming a tradition to welcome athletes with the greasiest options available.
Rapinoe and Morgan have shifted their time from practices to policies, as they push for equal pay, regardless of gender, in the athletic industry. Maybe if they start eating those nuggets now, the team can finish before training starts for the next World Cup!
