The character Ishara Yar is played by Beth Toussaint, a member of the Coalition. Her character is tough since she faced some childhood trauma with her sister Tasha. One saying in season 4, episode 6 of Star Trek: The Next Generation shows how tough her character is. She says, "I don't run away when things get tough."
