When parents, Steve and Jessica Rold picked up their daughter from daycare one day, they were thwarted with unsolicited suggestions from older teachers to dress their daughter in more dresses or bows so that other kids would know she was a girl.
“As a parent, you really have to pick what your priorities are and where you’re dedicating your energy and resources to,” Steve said. “If you have the time, money, and inclination to dress your daughter or son in ribbons and bows and that makes you and them happy by all means go for it. It’s just not on our radar at this exact moment.”
“Whether it’s a cultural or a generational thing, we completely understand that they were just trying to be helpful,” the man added.
The Rold’s have said, though, that they absolutely love the daycare and feel like that their baby gets to go there. So, to poke a little fun at the situation, they responded in the best possible way and posted this photo on Reddit in response.
The parents thanked others on Reddit who supported them and their parenting ideals and even pointed out the fact that “color marketing” was just that, marketing. Many parents even shared their own similar experiences.
One Reddit user even complimented the post-it drawing, to which Steve commented, “Wife is a professional drawer, don’t let it go to her head.”
