It’s official—everyone’s favorite giraffe mom, April, is expecting baby number five. The 16-year-old resident of Animal Adventure Park is pregnant once again.
Last year’s live-stream sensation gave birth to baby number four, Tajiri, in April of 2017.
“The results are in and we are having a baby!” park owner Jordan Patch announced on TODAY Wednesday morning.
Fans have jokingly asked about the father of the expected baby, and Patch has cleared the air, stating that Tajiri and the new addition share the same father, Oliver, a 6-year-old male at the Adventure Park.
The live cam that streamed her long road to labor last year just went live again on Tuesday, offering up some early footage of mama, papa, and Tajiri
Another giraffe birth is a big deal for not just for April and her clan, but also for the whole animal kingdom.
“Every calf counts,” Patch told TODAY. “Giraffe populations have declined by 40 percent in the past 30 years, so every calf born in a captive management program means something.”
