The most beloved Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek recently passed away after a several years-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Known for his kindness and philanthropy, Trebek left behind family, friends, crewmembers, coworkers, and many adoring fans. He also left behind quite an extensive television wardrobe. His son, Matthew, had the idea to donate Trebek's personal on-air wardrobe to an organization called The Doe Fund.
Working for the betterment of underserved Americans, The Doe Fund provides jobs, training, education, and other additional services to more than 28,000 people every year. These people are often the most marginalized, coming from backgrounds of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. With Matthew's help, he will be giving the group 14 suits, 14 jumpers, nine sport coats, 15 belts, two parkas, 58 dress shirts, 300 neckties, 25 polo shirts, nine pairs of dress shoes, and three pairs of dress pants.
"The men in our career training programs are always in need of professional attire, so they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they’re hired," said The Doe Fund's president Harriet McDonald. "This donation alleviates the obstacle of not having appropriate clothing."
Though Alex Trebek is no longer gracing our screens with his wit and intelligence, he lives on in the lives of those he affects. He is remembered by both those he loved and the people who loved him.
