Spread the Word, Kumail Nanjiani Is Super Jacked Now

Best known for his role in Silicon Valley on HBO or his debut hit film The Big Sick based on his real relationship, Kumail Nanjiani is a comedy wunderkind. He's also about to star in Marvel's The Eternals with Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek.  Fans were a little confused about how the wacky comedian would be able to play a superhero, but after getting the Marvel treatment, it became obvious. He posted a photo set to, well, clear some expectations up.

Naturally, the internet started freaking out. Nanjiani accompanied the pictures with a heartfelt and very honest caption about what the process of becoming a superhero actor actually takes. "I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world," said the comedian, "I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time." People online applauded his open expression and forwardness about his experience.

Fans have likened the transformation to that of Chris Pratt, going from Parks and Rec to starring in Guardians of the Galaxy, or Rob McElhenney gaining and losing tons of weight for his role as Mac on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Rob made a similar post last year, captioning his change "Look, it’s not that hard. All you need to do is lift weights six days a week, stop drinking alcohol, don’t eat anything after 7 pm, don’t eat any carbs or sugar at all, in fact just don’t eat anything you like, get the personal trainer from Magic Mike, sleep nine hours a night, run three miles a day, and have a studio pay for the whole thing over a six to seven-month span."

Kumail also thanked his wife, who inspired his first movie, The Big Sick. He wrote in his caption "I promise I'll be interesting again someday." She responded, "Worth it."
