Use Oil and Baking Soda to Clean Your Cabinets

Oil will not break down the varnish on the outside of your cabinet as many harsh cleaning products will. Use a toothbrush and some baking soda to scrub off hardened oils and sediment. The oil will follow behind for a shining and protecting effect.

  • This hint will save you from wasting wrapping paper each time you bring it out of storage. Rather than sticking a piece of tape along the loose edge, cut an empty toilet paper tube lengthwise and wrap it around a roll of wrapping paper. Cinch it up and secure the sleeve with a piece of tape.
  • Stop losing socks!. Stuff a strip of foam pipe insulation into the space between your washer and dryer or along the wall. That way, socks can't slip into the abyss.
  • Run the sink water until the bowl is about half full. Then pull the stopper and turn on the disposer to flush it out.
  • An easy way to tear tape and get a starting edge at the same time. Simply fold the tape under at a 90-degree angle to the roll. Then, with a snapping motion, pull the tape against the edge of the roll.
