Others thought that maybe a plane or helicopter flying to and from the bases had dropped something overhead, which would explain the widespread distribution of red. However, no one had reported such an occurrence and it would not make much sense to do that. What would be to gain? Something just wasn’t quite adding up, so this idea was also rejected.
