First Cables of the Golden Gate Bridge, 1935

The construction of the Golden Gate bridge began in 1933 and was completed in 1937, at a cost of $35 million.

The bridge is over 1.7 miles long and stands 746 feet above the water at its highest point.  It spans the Golden Gate Strait, which connects the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean, and is considered one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.
