Manhattan Bridge In Development, 1909

The Manhattan Bridge is one of the iconic suspension bridges that spans the East River and connects Manhattan to Brooklyn in New York City.

It was constructed due to the major transportation bottleneck in New York City, with only one bridge connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn which was the Brooklyn Bridge. The project was approved, and construction began in 1901. Despite challenges, the bridge was completed in 1909 and opened to traffic on December 31 of that year.
