Homeless Pup Gets Adopted by Senior Center the Day Before She’s Set to Be Euthanized

A 6-year-old pup who spent most of her life in a cage has now been given a second chance at life.

Rescue dog, Journey, grew up in a cage in rural Virginia and was sent to a crowded shelter when her owner died where she was set to be euthanized the next day.

Luckily, Amy Creel of Knine Rescue crew in Ashton, Maryland heard the dog’s story and worked to get her transferred to their rescue in Maryland. Journey arrived in Ashton the day before the rescue group hosted an adoption event at Sunrise Senior Living Center.

Journey stole the show at the event and charmed the residents throughout the day. The elderly residents ended up falling in love with her, so much so that the staff at the center ended up adopting the pup as a “house dog.”

Journey now comforts residents, joins them for walks, and brings joy to everyone at the senior center.
