Colorado Dog Gives Birth To Green Puppy

A Great Dane in Colorado recently gave birth to a litter of pups and her owners couldn’t believe their eyes when one of the pups made its entrance to the world.

While the majority of the litter was healthy and looked like their parents, one puppy was born with green fur. Yes, you read that right, the puppy was born with green-hued fur.

Caddy Williams, the dogs’ owner, at first thought the pup was black but upo further investigation noticed that that was not the case, and it actually has a pretty gross cause.

A chemical found in bile, called biliverdin, is responsible for the green appearance. This chemical can be found in the womb and can affect the color of the puppy’s coat.

The coloring isn’t permanent though and will fade away over time.

Whatever the color, having a dog can actually be good for your health. Research has shown that people who have dogs can actually live longer, especially those who live alone and/or suffer from a stroke or heart attack.
