#10. The Many Risks
Sharing an amniotic sac means they share the same blood flow and aren’t protected from bumping into each other in the womb. Having two umbilical cords in the same sac also makes things worse as the fetuses could end up pulling on each other’s cords by accident, preventing them from receiving nutrients and oxygen. In many cases, MoMo twins don’t survive as it is not unusual for the cords to get wrapped around their necks.
