Detective Robert Thorn (Charlton Heston) investigates the murder of the director of the Soylent Corporation while navigating an overpopulated, starving New York City of the future where the lower echelons are forced to survive on a processed food called Soylent Green. Thorn discovers, much to his horror, that Soylent Green is made from human corpses.
