In 1962, the true story of a Welsh diplomat and military officer named T.E. Lawrence (played by Peter O'Toole) was transformed into film format. Lawrence lost himself in the Arabian Peninsula during WWI, where he eventually assimilated with the people of the Arabian Desert tribes, despite being there on a war mission from Britain.
