People are Obsessing Over Duchess Kate’s “Weird” Fingers

Kate Middleton, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge has always had the attention of the press, especially in the UK. They seem to obsess over every small detail about Duchess Kate, no matter how insignificant. Usually she is making headlines because of her fashion, her charitable actions, and those sweet moments as a mother or a wife. But lately, the topic has been about Duchess’ “weird” hands, specifically how her fingers are weird because of their length.

Kate’s long and delicate fingers have been making the rounds on the internet for a very unusual reason. It seems that her pointer finger or index finger is the same length as her middle finger and ring finger. While this isn’t exactly a glaring deformity, it has some people talking. It was first reported by the Daily Mail, who noticed this detail when Duchess Kate stepped out last week in Oxford, England. She was there to address mental health in schools.

It may seem insignificant, but these small details may actually have health implications. Finger length, also known as “digit ratio” can help signal particular health issues such as Marfan syndrome or schizophrenia. But there are also some health benefits to this kind of digit ratio, such as increased fertility and lower risk of heart disease.

While there have been some interesting responses to Kate’s “weird” fingers, almost everyone has acknowledged that is a silly little thing to obsess over and not really that important when compared to all the help and work that the Duchess was doing at the time.
