Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry Welcome Daughter Daisy Dove
"We are floating with love," the couple said. In addition to 9 year old son Flynn, this is Bloom's second child and Perry's first. They announced the birth of their daughter via UNICEF, a charitable organization for which they are ambassadors. They shared a black and white photo of the baby holding Bloom's fingers while Perry grasped her wrist.
Despite the happy arrival of their daughter, the couple also recognized that there are people all over the world right now who aren't as lucky to receive quality healthcare during the COVID-19 crisis. Births especially are one of the top affected sectors of the healthcare industry due to the pandemic, causing most women to have to deliver their child alone. Because celebrities are all-around better off than the average person, it's safe to say this was not the case for Bloom and Perry.
"Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever," the post said. The couple also ask fans to donate to UNICEF in order to help expectant mothers receive better care.
