Museum Is Now Hiring for Putting Together Jigsaw Puzzle from 18th Century

If you’re the kind of person that like’s puzzles that you might want to apply for a job at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. The Museum is looking to hire a full time “Puzzle Cataloger” for six months. The main job of the cataloger is to solve and put together jigsaw puzzles. Who ever thought that there would be a job that would pay you to do jigsaw puzzles all day?

The museum has a collection of 7,500 puzzles with some that go back to the 18th Century. While most are complete, there are some puzzles with missing pieces. The person that gets hired for the job would not have to complete each of the puzzles, but they would have to solve as much of the puzzle as possible to identify the image in order to catalog it properly. That is why a background in history is also a big plus for any applicant.

“It’s somebody who’s curious and ready to learn. This is a chance to be immersed in a collection unlike any other.” says Christopher Bensch, Vice President for Collections at The Strong, about the ideal candidate. Bensch also explained that the position is more about satisfaction than riches as the position only offers minimum wage. But the position comes with benefits such as paid time off and medical coverage after 90 days with the company. There will also be other opportunities with the museum after the 6 month contract expires. Interested parties can apply at the offices or online.
