High School Country Country Team Takes Local Shelter Dogs on Runs

The dogs at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter had a great day away from the shelter thanks to the members of the St. Joseph High School cross-country team.

The boy’s team invited more than a dozen shelter pups to their morning run session this week to get them some much need exercise and human interaction.

Each member of the team was paired with one of the adoptable dogs before the whole group headed out for a long run together.

“I am not sure who was more excited and having the most fun … the dogs or the kids,” coach Luis Escobar said. “Either way, it was a great time and I am sure we will do it again sometime soon.”
