Farmer in Kenosha, Wisconsin Plant 2 Million Sunflowers to Spread Joy

One farmer in Kenosha, Wisconsin has outdone himself with this act of kindness.

Scott Thompson is a fourth-generation berry farmer in Bristol, Kenosha County. Thompson came up with the idea to spread joy during the pandemic: he was going to plant two million sunflowers.

Thompson said that people have been traveling from far and wide to visit his gargantuan sunflower fields. Guests at Thompson Strawberry Farm pay $25 per car to cut and take home a dozen of the bright flowers. During their visit, they can frolic in the fields and enjoy the early fall weather.

"A lot of people are saying, 'We just needed to get out of the city and come out to a place where I could take my mask off for a couple of hours,'" Thompson said.

Thompson and his family have welcomed every guest with open arms, from influencers to professional photographers. They even planted shorter sunflowers specifically so that people could take better photos in front of them.

All Thompson wants is for people to enjoy the countryside and bring home something beautiful to remind them of the outdoors.
