Moments before heading into work, a man in Maryland was deemed a hero after saving the life of an auto driver that landed himself in a sticky situation.
Andrew Lunn, 52, was about to begin his shift at the Anchorage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, MD, when he saw a driver accidentally reverse his car into the Wicomico River. Lunn immediately jumped into action…quite literally.
Thanks to the quick thinking of an Anchorage Nursing Home employee, the 55 yo operator of this vehicle only suffered minor injuries as a result of accidentally backing into the Wicomico River from the Anchorage Nursing home side of the river. pic.twitter.com/AEXIbWdrmq
— Salisbury Police (@SalisburyPD) June 19, 2019Lunn quickly told his co-workers to grab some life preservers and call 911, while he ran to the river and dove in without hesitation.
“I didn’t have the option of waiting for 911 because, within the response time, the car would have been underwater,” Lunn told USA Today. “I had to assess the situation to figure out the best way that both of us could have made it out of there alive.”
The man he rescued only sustained minor scrapes and bruises thanks to Lunn’s quick response. Andrew has been dubbed a hero all over social media, but he claims he was just in the right place at the right time.
