Airline Will Let Passengers with An Ugly Holiday Sweater Board Early

One of the more modern Christmas traditions has been wearing loud and unattractive sweaters to Christmas parties and family gatherings. These sweaters are usually designed with bright and clashing Christmas colors and feature at least one Christmas decoration. But now these “ugly sweaters” can be worn for good use. Alaska Airlines is offering early boarding for one day to passengers that are wearing such sweaters.

On December 15, people all over the country will celebrate National Ugly Sweater day. But wearing one can be more than a celebration. If you are one of the many passengers flying on Alaska, Virgin America or Horizon Air flights, you will be rewarded for wearing an ugly sweater by being allowed to board the plane ahead of other passengers. It may not seem like much, but for those that are traveling during the holidays, it will be a nice advantage over the hoards of people traveling home for the break.

“Travel during the holidays can be stressful for guests, especially those who do not travel often,” says Natalie Bowman, managing director of marketing and advertising at Alaska Airlines. “This fun promotion not only allows guests to board early on that day, but gives people another opportunity to dust off that ugly holiday sweater hanging in the back of their closet.”

Aside from offering early boarding to those brave enough to sport these ugly sweaters in public, the airlines are also playing holiday music all throughout December to get everyone in the holiday mood. Passengers with ugly holiday sweaters can inform their stewardess before boarding so they can avail of the promotion on that particular day.
