Life Hacks That Actually Work

Life hacks are hit or miss depending on who you talk to, but these ones are pretty useful! Even if one saves you some time and effort when you're in a pinch, it's worth it.

No Iron? No Problem

The last thing you think of while traveling is your wrinkly clothes. Obviously, the more delicate fabrics will be wrinkled, and no one wants to see that! Your hotel might not have an iron at the ready, but don't worry, there's a hack for that! Using a simple flat iron will get your clothes looking spic and span. Flat irons are small and sleek enough that you won't even notice them in your luggage. Use the flat iron for collars, sleeves, pockets... Everything!

The More You Know

  • Stow bulky items overhead by cementing together a simple rack from 2" PVC pipes and fittings. Bolt the straight pipe to the ceiling joists to support heavy loads, and screw the angled pieces from the 'wye' connectors into the cross brace to stabilize the whole rack.
  • If you have an unsightly deodorant mark on your clothes, don't rub your garment with a standard cloth and risk pilling. Instead, use a pair of pantyhose to gently rub the deodorant mark and watch it disappear with ease.
  • Here's a great way to keep track of your daily water intake. Draw lines on your water bottle with a marker pen, and then write the time beside the marked level.
  • Keep all those personal grooming tools in one place. A magnetic strip in the medicine cabinet can be used to store tweezers, clippers and small scissors.
