Sidney Poitier
Sidney Poitier was the first black man to win an Academy Award for best actor. One year after that, he got nominated once more for that role. This was in the 1960s, and he used his newfound fame to advance in the Civil Rights movement. In 1997, Sidney became the Bahamas Ambassador to Japan. He was ranked number 22 among the greatest male stars of Hollywood's cinema by the American Film Institute.
