Anyone who’s written a thesis will tell you that it takes a lot of work. It can take a few years to write and compile all the research required for a doctorate. So when Sarah Whelan Curtis was finally finished with her genetics thesis, she celebrated with a maternity-style photo shoot.
Many other Ph.D. students checked in with Sarah to see how she was feeling after the four-year-long labor. Some even responded with pictures of their own “children”.
Curtis said she was inspired by all the pregnancy announcements she was seeing on her news feed. She was as proud as any parent for her hard work and
Curtis says she’s going to study the genetics of epilepsy and cranial facial defects and is applying to post-graduate positions in Georgia. As far as babies go, she says “babies are not on my mind right now.”
