Matthew McConaughey
McConaughey wanted no part in his father's traditional Texan oil business, so he headed to Hollywood to become a famous actor. He worked small roles and student films before hanging in a bar in Austin, Texas. A producer in the bar introduced him to Richard Linklater, who was wary to let the young man audition for a movie but allowed him anyway. That movie was his big hit, Dazed and Confused.
