Burt Reynolds had no interest in acting. In fact, his heart was set on a football career, and he earned a scholarship to play for Florida State University. However, after a career-ending injury, he took a shot at acting. He got another scholarship, this one for acting in the Hyde Park Playhouse in New York City. He soon landed the role of Deliverance and made his mark.
