Hollywood A-Listers Who Got Their Big Break in Horror Films

Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood's distinguished film career began in 1955. Eastwood got his first big break playing an uncredited lab assistant named Jennings in Revenge of the Creature, the sequel to Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). Eastwood's character is shown having a discussion with Professor Ferguson in which he accuses a test subject cat of having eaten a lab rat—before finding the rat in his lab coat pocket.

The More You Know

  • The filming of 'The Godfather' was disrupted by an actual Mafia member, Joe Colombo. Producer Al Ruddy met with him and reviewed the script, striking the word "Mafia" completely from the movie. Colombo and his pals also managed to elbow their way into casting and ended up as extras in the film.
  • In the movie 'The Hangover', no effects or prosthetics were created for Stu's missing tooth. Actor Ed Helms never had an adult incisor grow, and his fake incisor was taken out for the parts of filming where Stu's tooth is missing.
  • During the filming of Snow Buddies (an ‘Air Bud’ spinoff), five puppies died.
  • For Dr. Strangelove, Peter Sellers was paid $1 million, 55 percent of the film’s budget.
