Move On
For years, the Rasmussens called the homicide unit on a regular basis for inquiries pertaining to Sherri’s case. When Lyle Mayer retired in 1993, the Rasmussens returned to Los Angeles to meet with Mayer’s successor, who had inherited the case. He explained that the outlook remained grim: no suspects nor new leads had been identified. When Nels brought up an article about DNA forensics, he was dismissed and advised to “move on with his life.”
