Flight 007 Shot Down

The flight left New York, but once it flew over Soviet airspace, it was quickly shot out of the sky. 

Korean Airlines Flight 007 is pictured here before it entered the air. There were thirteen bodies found over the next few days that were tragically too disfigured to identify. The Russian authorities claimed that the bodies were all eaten by crabs when they uncovered the remaining wreckage.
