Betty Wright was a soul and R&B singer and background vocalist known for her distinct whistle register, which is the highest register of the human voice. Wright passed away from cancer at her home in Miami at the age of 66. Steve Greenberg, president of S-Curve Records called Wright "one of the most significant women in the history of R&B music, period."
