What They Saw
After digging for some time, they felt sure that they had gone deep enough to find the source of the cries. They hoped they would now be able to ID the culprit, but after clearing large amounts of rubble, they reached into the dark hole and came up empty-handed. The noises had stopped—did they injure the creature below?
